Turn Turn Turn…this blog is a very overdue post, so much in fact that it made the song come to mind and we’ve gone from summer to fall in a blink. Virginia weather runs so hot and cold, but still the best state in the union as far as our seasons go. This is the silly season for interior designers. It’s countdown to the holidays for our clients, residential and commercial. There are furniture markets in states above and below Virginia, charity events that we all participate in in some way or another and when someone asks if our houses look great during this time of year we usually call it the ‘cobbler’s child’. My holiday decorating has been whittled down to items that take me a total of 2 hours to put up, assemble, and plug in. The best day is the day I put it up, and the second best day is the day I take them down. The most favorite thing to me about fall however is the stockpiling of the sweet potatoes, pumpkins and other fall squash that gets cooked and put in the freezer so I can have autumn year round in the kitchen. There is something therapeutic about seeding a pumpkin or peeling hot sweet potatoes…the colors are my favorite. The fall/holiday present to myself this year is finally painting the front door (see a blog from spring) and it’s called Butterscotch. Now if I could only eat it…
